•How can we use MHM on our wedding day?
Music featuring the harp is ideal for use during your wedding ceremony. The visual elegance and soothing tones of the instrument can enhance any church service or garden ceremony. Some of our more up-beat repertoire can add to any reception, especially during pre-dinner drinks.
•What are the standard places for music in a ceremony?
Music can be provided for 15 minutes before the ceremony time as your guests are arriving and being seated. If the bride is making a formal entrance then we are happy to play the bridal party in, either with the traditional Bridal Chorus or something of your own choosing. Two pieces of music are usually required for the signing of the register, with something either joyful or sentimental reserved for the conclusion of the ceremony.
•We are having a full Catholic mass for our wedding. Can we have more music as part of our ceremony?
We are happy to provide music between the readings, during the preparation of the gifts and for communion and reflection as required at no extra cost.
•Our ceremony will be outside- can the harp make it?
The harp travels with the aid of a trolley, so as long as the ground to be covered is neither rough nor steep it should be able to reach the location. Please be aware that the harp cannot be in direct sunlight and of course needs level ground to rest on. Please also be aware that the harpist can get a little edgy if it looks like rain is on the way!
•How does your pricing policy work?
Costs are worked out in hourly blocks. The charge for the first hour is always the highest as it incorporates the effort involved in transporting the instruments and musicians to a venue. A lesser charge follows for each subsequent hour. Please contact Megan for more details.
•Our ceremony only goes for 20 minutes- why do we need musicians for 1 hour?
We play for 15 minutes before the ceremony as your guests are arriving. A bride is on average 10 minutes late (yes I said I wouldn’t be late at my wedding but was anyway!). If the ceremony then goes for 20 minutes we play for a further fifteen minutes after the end of the ceremony as you greet your guests.
•We are having our ceremony and reception at two different locations. Can we still have music at both?
Yes, but you will be charged 2 first hourly fees to cover the relocation of the instruments.
•Can we hire you for just pre-dinner drinks?
Absolutely. It is your wedding so use the music as you see fit.
•How long can you play during the reception?
We play up to four hours. It is necessary to take regular breaks, including a meal break which is usually timed to occur during your speeches. You will need to check with the reception centre about providing us with a meal.
•How do I confirm my booking?
Melbourne Harp Music requires both written confirmation and a deposit of half the total amount to confirm your booking. The balance of payment is due by the day of your wedding. Full payment must by made if you are paying by credit card using our secure online payment system. Please contact Megan for further payment options.
